Devi Turns Loss into Art, Honoring His Brother With Deviii
Our growing tribe at Black Bear Brotherhood is blessed with an abundance of creative talent. One of those talents is none other than Devi—Detroit-based rapper, artist, and visionary—who has just released his latest EP Deviii.
Devi’s evolution—both within and beyond Black Bear Brotherhood—has been rooted in unapologetic vulnerability as a Black queer artist. That vulnerability is on full display in Deviii, a powerful four-track offering that beautifully honors the spirit of his younger brother, blending remembrance, truth, and creative legacy.
As Devi boldly puts it:
“I represent the community, proudly queer, black nerd! Fuck anybody who feel some type of way!”
Deviii is more than an EP—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the unbreakable bond between brothers and a testament to living fully in one’s truth. As chosen brothers to Devi, Black Bear Brotherhood is proud to witness his journey as he helps pave the way for the future of conscious hip hop, born and bred in Detroit.
